Lawkapala foundation
As a registered Public Benevolent Institution (PBI), Lawkapala Foundation is dedicated to relieving poverty, distress, and suffering among vulnerable communities in and from Myanmar. The Foundation advances social and public welfare by providing humanitarian assistance and targeted support to individuals and families facing hardship due to conflict, disaster, displacement, and systemic disadvantage.
Lawkapala organises, conducts, and promotes programs that deliver emergency relief, food, shelter, and essential services to those in immediate need, while also supporting the rebuilding and repair of community assets after disasters to enable long-term recovery. It prioritises caring for and supporting individuals with disabilities, older persons, and children and young people affected by conflict and crisis, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and dignity.
The Foundation’s PBI work focuses on addressing the root causes of disadvantage while delivering practical assistance to relieve suffering. It partners with local responders, civil society, and diaspora networks to reach underserved communities, mobilise resources, and strengthen local leadership in recovery efforts. By prioritising inclusion and equity, Lawkapala ensures that its benevolent activities empower communities to rebuild their lives and futures with dignity, resilience, and hope, consistent with its mission to advance justice, compassion, and community well-being.

our vision
A just and inclusive Myanmar where all people—particularly those affected by conflict, displacement, poverty, and systemic discrimination—can live with dignity, access essential services, and participate in rebuilding their communities free from fear and hardship.
Our mission
Lawkapala Foundation exists to relieve human suffering and hardship experienced by people in and from Myanmar, especially those affected by armed conflict, political repression, and social exclusion.
We do this through:
-
Education and capacity-building for individuals and communities facing structural disadvantage,
-
Promotion and protection of human rights for those at risk of abuse and persecution, and
-
Humanitarian assistance and social support for disaster-affected and displaced populations.
Our mission is grounded in the belief that restoring dignity, building resilience, and strengthening community-based leadership are essential to long-term recovery and justice.

our guiding principles
As a charity organisation, the Lawkapala Foundation is guided by a set of principles that reflect our commitment to our vision, mission, values, and stakeholders.
-
People-Centred Relief and Accountability: We serve people in distress—not institutions or political interests. Every activity is designed to directly benefit those most affected by hardship, and we maintain full transparency in how resources are allocated and evaluated.
-
Ethical and Responsible Governance: We uphold the highest standards of integrity, risk management, and compliance in all our operations. Our governance practices prioritise evidence, community needs, and sustained impact.
-
Local Leadership and Inclusion: We work alongside local leaders, community-based organisations, and civil society actors—especially women, youth, and ethnic minorities—to ensure those with lived experience shape solutions to their own challenges.
-
Strategic and Humanitarian Collaboration: Lawkapala builds principled partnerships with local, national, and international actors, including humanitarian agencies, diaspora networks, and the National Unity Government, to extend the reach and quality of benevolent programs.
-
Long-Term Recovery and Resilience: We design programs that go beyond immediate relief—building the capacity of individuals and institutions to recover, lead, and thrive. Sustainability, inclusion, and local ownership are built into every stage of our work.
The guiding principles of the Lawkapala Foundation truly reflect our commitment to making a positive impact on society, while demonstrating the highest levels of ethics, transparency, inclusivity, collaboration, sustainability, and responsibility. By adhering to these principles, the foundation will build trust, credibility, and impact, and achieve our mission to make a positive difference in the world.
