

Our Work
The Lawkapala Foundation Ltd is a registered member of the Australian Charities and Non-for-profits Commission (ACNC). According to charity sub-types categorised by ACNC, the foundation decided to operate under three sub-types - advancing education, advancing social or public welfare, and promoting or protecting human rights. The Foundation’s Strategic Plan 2023-2025 outlines a roadmap for achieving its vision and mission over the three-year defined period, from 2023 to 2025.
OPERATION AREA
The foundation operates in the following three key area - advancing education, advancing social or public welfare, and promoting or protecting human rights.

Advancing Education
Through educational programs, the foundation will support Myanmar's democratization and federalism reform process. In supporting this, the foundation will assist and work with institutions and actors who are delivering education programs and conducting research in Myanmar in the democracy, federalism, and peace disciplines.

Promoting & Protecting
Human Rights
Under the principles and practices related to the International Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination, International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and Convention on the Rights of the Child, the foundation will carry out human rights promotion and protection activities to monitor human rights violations, bring justice to victims of human rights abuses, conduct research activities on human rights issues, and deliver public education program on human rights.

Advancing Public Welfare
Under the consideration of social or public welfare, the foundation will help disaster victims and vulnerable communities in Myanmar by improving disaster resilience and mobilizing resources for humanitarian assistance. In doing this, the foundation will raise funds for organizations that are actively engaged in such activities in Myanmar and in the border areas; and provide technical support by coordinating with international organizations and experts working in the disaster management discipline.

The following enabling actions are formulated to ensure all key stakeholders take ownership of the strategic plan, to maximise their contribution, integration, collaboration, and commitment, and create an enabling environment for the implementation.

Communities
The charity should prioritize community engagement and participation, working closely with local communities to identify their needs and priorities and to involve them in the design and implementation of programs and initiatives. The charity should aim to build the capacity of communities to lead and sustain their own development, and to promote local ownership and leadership of programs and initiatives.

Promoting Inclusion
and Equity
The charity should prioritize the needs of marginalized and vulnerable populations, including ethnic minorities, women and girls, and people with disabilities. The charity should work to promote inclusion and equity in all aspects of its programs and initiatives and to address systemic barriers to access and participation.

Advocating for
Systemic Change
The charity should aim to address the root causes of poverty, inequality, and human rights abuses in Myanmar, by advocating for systemic change at the policy and institutional level. The charity should work to build partnerships and alliances with other civil society organizations, human rights defenders, and advocacy groups to amplify its voice and impact.
